WELCOME TO YOUR

SPIRITUAL FAMILY

WHY PEOPLE LOVE CIRCLES

A place to be real

A place to be embraced for who you are

A place of support

A place to be real • A place to be embraced for who you are • A place of support •

What you’ve been REALLY looking for in church…

We’ll help connect you into a small group that fits your life stage

Let’s be honest: we’re not designed to fight through life alone. Share emotional and practical needs with those who care for you the most!

Circles provide space and time to develop your spiritual gifts… and challenge you to Host, Teach, or Lead!

A place where everyone

knows your name.

In the busyness of life, many of us struggle to find a small community where we truly belong. Circles are small groups at C4 where you can build authentic relationships, grow in your walk with Jesus, and support one another through the highs and lows of life.

WE’LL HELP YOU FIND YOUR FIT!

Our Circles

We believe in the life and growth that multi-generational, diverse small groups bring. However, life stage and gender-based groups can also provide powerful spiritual formation in your season of life!

Looking to join a Circle

for your whole family?

Family Circles are cross-generational, multi-family gatherings designed to help equip you to disciple your kids & teens.

We get it. The busyness of life and the addictions of digital media can keep us isolated from one another and distracted from our relationship with Jesus. So we’ve partnered with the Bible Project to create an engaging experience for the whole family that is centered on God’s Word and creates space to hear from the Spirit, share our emotional journeys, and build intergenerational relationships that are critical in our children’s walk with Jesus in the years ahead.

So what makes a Circle, a Circle?

Although every Circle is unique, they all share these characteristics…

1

You Weren’t Meant to Follow

Jesus on Your Own

“Don’t stop meeting together with other believers, which some people have gotten into the habit of doing. Instead, encourage each other, especially as you see The Day drawing near.”

— Hebrews 10:25

OUR PROMISE TO YOU

Imperfect people committed to a culture of ‘ohana (family)

Always feel empowered to take a break from Circles or try a new group… just communicate with your Circle Leader and don’t sweat it!

NO PRESSURE & NO SHAME

CONFIDENTIALITY IN TRANSPARENCY

We value honesty, but we hate gossip as much as you do. One guideline we take seriously: what is shared in Circle stays in Circle.

COME AS YOU ARE

Going through a divorce? Struggling with an addiction? New to being a Christian? Just moved to Hawaii? No shame… everyone is invited just as they are.

ACCOUNTABLE, GROWING CIRCLE LEADERS

Although imperfect, we provide shepherding and support for our Circle Leaders so they too can grow in health, not overextend themselves, and get help when there’s conflict or issues in the group

BIBLICAL CURRICULUM

We love the Word of God! Our team approves and supports books, Right Now Media series, and Bible Project videos used in our Circles.

PROPHECY, PRAYER, & GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT

We love the Holy Spirit! We commit to following biblical, pastoral guidelines and practical wisdom in how we minister to one another so people feel safe while being free to grow in their spiritual gifts.

FAQs

  • Circles are small groups within the C4 community where you can build authentic relationships, grow in your walk with Jesus, and support one another through the highs and lows of life. They are led by a Circle Leader, often times have a specific demographic (like Family, Women, or Young Adults), and meet in homes, at C4 in breakout rooms, or at a third space like a coffee shop or beach park.

  • Every Circle is unique, but our main goal is to grow closer to God and one another. Many Circles eat together (we LOVE food and gathering around tables!), some include times of worship… others don’t. And we like having fun together (and often meet up at the beach or for other activities outside of church or Circle times).  But when we meet, we endeavor to make sure:

    1. The Bible is read out loud

    2. Each person has an opportunity to share

    3. Each person has an opportunity to hear from God and pray

  • Almost every day of the week you’ll find a Circle meeting, from a Wednesday night at C4, to a Friday night in a home with families, to a Sunday morning at 8am at a coffee shop. Although we’re growing Circles on the West side and have one Kane’ohe area, the vast majority are between Manoa and Hawaii Kai (with the majority in Kaimuki/Kahala area).

  • Like big church gatherings and small devotion times with family or friends, we always recommend three items:

    1. Your Bible - We suggest a paper Bible, as using your phone’s Bible app can be distracting with notifications

    2. Your Journal - We believe stewarding what God says to us encourages Him to share even more! Plus, we get to record our thoughts, revelations, and biblical insights to review later.

    3. A Pen - We believe in marking up your Bibles alongside the notes you’re recording in your Journal… let’s GO!

    4. If your Circle includes breakfast/brunch, lunch, or dinner, feel free to bring a dish to share! Your Circle Leader will guide the group on how meals are organized.

  • Nope! We believe that if you’re rightly connected to the Head (Jesus), you’ll be rightly connected to His Body (the Church). And that could take some time to discover through prayer and trial and error with the Spirit. So simply communicate with your Circle Leader if you’d like to try visiting another Circle… and our Circle Team can help you with that too! You’re not offending anyone or disappointing God or us. This is just how it works! Easy.

  • We believe that we should always start with the relationships we already have. So if you DO know someone, even just a little, we recommend you visit their Circle or the two of you can visit a Circle together ;). If you don’t know anyone yet, our Circle Team will help find the right fit for you, no matter how long that takes. It will take courage and a choice to step outside of your comfort zone, so keep reading over this webpage and meditating on Scripture until the “WHY” behind small community is burning in your heart MORE than any fears or insecurities you have. Remember: courage is doing the right thing while still experiencing fear… just don’t let it stop you!

Still have questions?

Circles aren’t add-ons to church…

they’re a part of church!

“Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts…”

— Acts 2:46

It’s not good for people to be alone

It’s clear in Genesis 2:18 that God created us for intimate relationships and community… He’s not speaking here just about marriage! None of us will fulfill God’s assignment on our own. In fact, the isolation, depression, and anxiety so many of us feel will not just continue, but get worse as the years go on! And when life hits the fan, we’ll lack the spiritual and practical support we need to make it through. Don’t let the pain of the past keep you from God’s family… in fact, it’s the only place you’ll find healing! Step out in faith again. Take the risk. You’ll be so thankful you did.
